Quick answer
For Terminal 2, Hilton Garden Inn is the easiest full-service choice; for Terminal 3, Aerotel is inside Arrivals and Hilton Garden Inn is the stronger full-service alternative via the pedestrian route. For Terminal 4, Hilton is the closest covered-walk option, while Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn Express and Premier Inn also use covered pedestrian links. Sofitel is the only walk-connected Terminal 5 hotel. Thistle reaches T5 by a paid pod, while Renaissance and ibis Styles are Bath Road hotels that require a bus, Hotel Hoppa, taxi or other road transfer. Always verify the operating terminal and the first transfer of the day before booking.
All 10 hotels are editorially researched from official airport, transport and hotel sources. No BestUKHotels.com stay, terminal walk, bus or pod journey, sound test, accessibility inspection, live-rate comparison or paid placement is recorded.
Quick comparison
The useful hierarchy is walk-connected, then a simple terminal transfer, then road-dependent. Hilton Garden Inn, Aerotel, Hilton T4 and Sofitel minimise transfer uncertainty for their named terminals. Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn Express and Premier Inn add a longer covered walk at T4. Thistle's Terminal 5 name still involves a paid pod. Renaissance and ibis Styles can offer better facilities or value on Bath Road, but neither is a walk-to-check-in hotel.
| Hotel | Why it fits | Best for | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hilton Garden Inn London Heathrow Terminals 2 and 3 | Best full-service choice for Terminal 2 and a strong indoor-route choice for Terminal 3 | T2 departures, T3 travellers who want more facilities than Aerotel, business trips and short stopovers. | T3 still involves the central pedestrian route, and T4 or T5 requires a separate inter-terminal journey. |
| Aerotel London Heathrow | Best for Terminal 3 proximity and flexible short stays | Late T3 arrivals, early T3 departures, solo travellers and short layovers where a compact room is enough. | It is landside, compact and limited-service; T2 requires a walk and the other terminals require transport. |
| Hilton London Heathrow Airport | Best full-service Terminal 4 hotel with the shortest covered connection | T4 flights, business travellers, late arrivals and guests wanting several dining options without a shuttle. | The covered route is still a walk with luggage, while T2, T3 and T5 need a separate terminal transfer. |
| Crowne Plaza London Heathrow T4 | Best Terminal 4 choice for business facilities and full-service dining | Work trips, small meetings and T4 travellers who value a proper desk, restaurant and 24-hour room service. | It shares a longer covered approach than Hilton, has no pool and adds an inter-terminal leg for every non-T4 flight. |
| Holiday Inn Express London Heathrow T4 | Best Terminal 4 value when included breakfast matters | Families, short stays, early T4 departures and travellers who want breakfast included. | The limited-service format has no pool, and the covered walk does not remove the transfer from other terminals. |
| Premier Inn London Heathrow Airport Terminal 4 | Best simple budget room on a covered Terminal 4 route | Cost-conscious T4 travellers and families who want a predictable mainstream room. | Breakfast and extras can erase part of the rate advantage, and other terminals still require an interchange. |
| Sofitel London Heathrow | Best and only walk-connected Terminal 5 hotel | T5 departures, luxury stopovers, business events and travellers who want a covered walk to check-in. | The luxury premium is hard to justify for a very short sleep, and other terminals require a separate transfer. |
| Thistle London Heathrow Terminal 5 | Best lower-cost Terminal 5 alternative with a distinctive paid pod transfer | T5 travellers comparing total cost carefully, park-and-fly stays and those comfortable with the pod route. | The pod costs per person, operates to published hours and still requires walking between hotel, station and terminal. |
| Renaissance London Heathrow Hotel | Best Bath Road hotel for runway views, meetings and drivers | Plane spotters, business events, parking needs and travellers willing to pre-plan a T2 or T3 road transfer. | Runway-side is not terminal-side: Hotel Hoppa, local bus, taxi or another road transfer is still required. |
| ibis Styles London Heathrow Airport | Best Bath Road budget option for families and reduced-mobility room choice | Budget stays, family rooms, drivers and travellers who can accommodate a road transfer. | It is not walk-connected, breakfast costs extra and an early transfer can outweigh a small room saving. |
Quick picks: hotels near London Heathrow Airport
Ordered by usefulness for visiting London Heathrow Airport, not by star rating or a temporary room price. Read each location trade-off before treating “near” as walkable.
Hilton Garden Inn London Heathrow Terminals 2 and 3
Upper mid-rangeHeathrow Central: Terminals 2 and 3, Hounslow- Best for
- Terminal 2 departures, Terminal 3 travellers who prefer an indoor route, short stopovers and business trips.
- Trade-off
- Terminal 3 is not attached to the hotel itself
The simplest full-service choice for Terminal 2 and a strong Terminal 3 option, because the hotel joins T2 by covered walkway and T3 is reached through the pedestrian underpass.
Booking tipConfirm the walking route for the correct terminal and allow extra time for lifts, luggage and the longer Terminal 3 section.
Aerotel London Heathrow
Mid-rangeTerminal 3 Arrivals, Hounslow- Best for
- Terminal 3 arrivals or departures, short stays, solo travellers and travellers needing flexible room blocks.
- Trade-off
- Landside location requires appropriate permission to enter the UK
The closest landside sleep option for Terminal 3 and a practical compact-room choice for Terminal 2 when a bed matters more than full-service hotel facilities.
Booking tipCheck the booked time block, room occupancy and landside immigration requirements rather than assuming this is an airside transit hotel.
Hilton London Heathrow Airport
Upper mid-rangeTerminal 4, Hounslow- Best for
- Terminal 4 flights, business travellers, late arrivals and travellers wanting a full-service hotel without a shuttle.
- Trade-off
- Longer covered walk than the closest central-terminal options
The strongest full-service Terminal 4 choice for travellers who want an all-weather pedestrian link and more dining and business facilities than the neighbouring budget hotels.
Booking tipDo not treat the Terminal 4 name as equal convenience for Terminal 2, 3 or 5; plan the free inter-terminal leg around operating hours.
Crowne Plaza London Heathrow T4
Upper mid-rangeTerminal 4, Hounslow- Best for
- Terminal 4 business travel, meetings, travellers wanting 24-hour room service and quiet-zone room features.
- Trade-off
- No swimming pool
A business-oriented Terminal 4 hotel with a covered pedestrian bridge, proper desks, meeting space and full-service dining, but no pool and no advantage for other terminals.
Booking tipChoose it for the desk, dining or meeting facilities; otherwise compare the simpler hotels on the same covered route.
Holiday Inn Express London Heathrow T4
Mid-rangeTerminal 4, Hounslow- Best for
- Terminal 4 departures, families, short stays and travellers prioritising included breakfast.
- Trade-off
- No swimming pool
The clearest value-led Terminal 4 choice for travellers who want a weather-protected walk and breakfast included without paying for facilities they will not use.
Booking tipCompare the full rate with Premier Inn after adding breakfast, and confirm the family-room occupancy and sofa-bed setup.
Premier Inn London Heathrow Airport Terminal 4
BudgetTerminal 4, Hounslow- Best for
- Terminal 4 flights, budget-conscious travellers, families and simple overnight stops.
- Trade-off
- Breakfast is not inherently included in every rate
A straightforward budget Terminal 4 base with a covered, signposted walkway; strongest when the room rate matters more than included breakfast or full-service facilities.
Booking tipPrice breakfast, parking and any other-terminal transfer before treating the headline room rate as the final cost.
Sofitel London Heathrow
LuxuryTerminal 5, Hounslow- Best for
- Terminal 5 flights, luxury stopovers, business events, couples and travellers who want a walk-only morning transfer.
- Trade-off
- Luxury positioning can be poor value for a very short sleep
The strongest Terminal 5 choice for a walk-only transfer, combining a direct covered link with full-service dining, extensive meeting space and a treatment spa.
Booking tipBook it for Terminal 5 convenience; travellers using another terminal should compare a hotel attached to that terminal instead.
Thistle London Heathrow Terminal 5
Mid-rangeLongford and Terminal 5 Pod Station B, West Drayton- Best for
- Terminal 5 travellers seeking a cheaper alternative, park-and-fly stays and travellers interested in the pod connection.
- Trade-off
- The pod charges per person per journey
A useful lower-cost Terminal 5 alternative when the paid driverless pod is operating, but the name does not mean the hotel is attached to the terminal.
Booking tipAdd the per-person pod fare in both directions and check operating hours or replacement transport before comparing it with Sofitel.
Renaissance London Heathrow Hotel
Upper mid-rangeBath Road north of Terminals 2 and 3, Hounslow- Best for
- Plane spotters, meetings, drivers, overnight stops and travellers using Terminals 2 or 3 with a planned road transfer.
- Trade-off
- No pedestrian route to a passenger terminal
A strong Bath Road choice for plane spotting, meetings and drivers, provided the paid or public transfer is planned rather than treating the runway-side position as walkable.
Booking tipReserve a runway-view category deliberately and confirm the current Hoppa or local-bus stop, fare and first departure for the correct terminal.
ibis Styles London Heathrow Airport
BudgetBath Road and Harlington Corner, Hayes- Best for
- Budget travellers, families, drivers and short overnight stays with a planned road transfer.
- Trade-off
- No pedestrian terminal link
A practical budget Bath Road hotel with family and reduced-mobility rooms, but its airport name must not be confused with a terminal connection.
Booking tipAdd breakfast, parking and the complete bus or taxi transfer before comparing it with a terminal-linked room.
The shortlist in detail
The 10 best hotel choices for London Heathrow Airport
Choose by the part of the stay that creates the most friction: arrival, onward plans, family needs, accessibility or the transfer to the right departure point.
Hilton Garden Inn London Heathrow Terminals 2 and 3
Best full-service choice for Terminal 2 and a strong indoor-route choice for Terminal 3
Hilton Garden Inn is the cleanest answer for Terminal 2 because a covered walkway joins the hotel to the terminal. For Terminal 3, the pedestrian underpass through the central terminal area keeps the journey indoors, though it is longer and less direct than Aerotel's position in T3 Arrivals.
Choose it when a restaurant, fitness centre and a conventional full-service room justify the likely premium. Travellers with reduced mobility or several cases should ask the hotel to trace the exact lift-and-walkway route to their terminal rather than relying on a headline walking time.
- Best for
- T2 departures, T3 travellers who want more facilities than Aerotel, business trips and short stopovers.
- Watch for
- T3 still involves the central pedestrian route, and T4 or T5 requires a separate inter-terminal journey.

Aerotel London Heathrow
Best for Terminal 3 proximity and flexible short stays
Aerotel sits inside the public Arrivals area of Terminal 3, making it the least complicated bed for a T3 flight. Terminal 2 is reachable through Heathrow Central's pedestrian route, but Hilton Garden Inn reverses the advantage for a T2 departure.
The key booking detail is legal and practical: this is a landside hotel, not an airside transit room. Confirm that every traveller can clear the UK border, then match the room category and booked time block to the actual layover rather than buying a conventional night by habit.
- Best for
- Late T3 arrivals, early T3 departures, solo travellers and short layovers where a compact room is enough.
- Watch for
- It is landside, compact and limited-service; T2 requires a walk and the other terminals require transport.
Hilton London Heathrow Airport
Best full-service Terminal 4 hotel with the shortest covered connection
Heathrow lists Hilton as the Terminal 4 hotel linked by covered walkway. That makes it the strongest T4 choice when reducing morning uncertainty matters more than finding the lowest rate, especially for an early departure or late arrival.
It also offers a fuller hotel proposition than the budget properties on the longer T4 link. Ask about the complete step-free route and do not book it for another terminal without checking the free inter-terminal timetable in both directions.
- Best for
- T4 flights, business travellers, late arrivals and guests wanting several dining options without a shuttle.
- Watch for
- The covered route is still a walk with luggage, while T2, T3 and T5 need a separate terminal transfer.
Crowne Plaza London Heathrow T4
Best Terminal 4 choice for business facilities and full-service dining
Crowne Plaza is linked to Terminal 4 by a covered pedestrian bridge and has the clearest work-led proposition in the T4 group: desks in all rooms, meeting spaces, a restaurant, bar and 24-hour room service.
Choose it for those facilities rather than the airport name alone. Holiday Inn Express and Premier Inn use the same general T4 hotel zone with simpler propositions, while Hilton is the more direct terminal choice.
- Best for
- Work trips, small meetings and T4 travellers who value a proper desk, restaurant and 24-hour room service.
- Watch for
- It shares a longer covered approach than Hilton, has no pool and adds an inter-terminal leg for every non-T4 flight.
Holiday Inn Express London Heathrow T4
Best Terminal 4 value when included breakfast matters
Holiday Inn Express turns the longer covered T4 connection into a clear value proposition by including breakfast. Family rooms and all-day lobby food can also simplify a one-night stop when everyone is tired at a different time.
Compare the exact family occupancy and sofa-bed layout, not just the room label. For an extremely early departure, confirm when breakfast begins and what is available before choosing it over a room nearer the terminal.
- Best for
- Families, short stays, early T4 departures and travellers who want breakfast included.
- Watch for
- The limited-service format has no pool, and the covered walk does not remove the transfer from other terminals.
Premier Inn London Heathrow Airport Terminal 4
Best simple budget room on a covered Terminal 4 route
Premier Inn publishes a covered, signposted link from Terminal 4 that permits airport trolleys. That is more useful than a slightly shorter map distance with an outdoor bus wait, particularly in bad weather or with several bags.
Its value depends on the complete bill. Add breakfast, flexible cancellation, parking and any terminal transfer before comparing it with Holiday Inn Express, whose breakfast is included, or Hilton, whose terminal link is more direct.
- Best for
- Cost-conscious T4 travellers and families who want a predictable mainstream room.
- Watch for
- Breakfast and extras can erase part of the rate advantage, and other terminals still require an interchange.

Sofitel London Heathrow
Best and only walk-connected Terminal 5 hotel
Sofitel is the decisive Terminal 5 answer because a covered walkway connects directly to the terminal. That removes the pod fare, shuttle wait and road-traffic risk attached to hotels that use T5 in their name but sit outside the terminal complex.
The hotel adds restaurants, extensive meeting space and a treatment spa, but those extras only represent value if used. For Terminal 2, 3 or 4, choose a hotel attached to the operating terminal unless the Sofitel stay itself is the priority.
- Best for
- T5 departures, luxury stopovers, business events and travellers who want a covered walk to check-in.
- Watch for
- The luxury premium is hard to justify for a very short sleep, and other terminals require a separate transfer.
Thistle London Heathrow Terminal 5
Best lower-cost Terminal 5 alternative with a distinctive paid pod transfer
Thistle's useful feature is access to Pod Station B, not a terminal walkway. The driverless pod runs to Terminal 5 during published operating hours and can be quicker and more predictable than a road shuttle, but it is a paid transfer rather than an included hotel facility.
Add both directions for every passenger and check the first and last service before comparing the room with Sofitel. Travellers needing step-free access should confirm the complete hotel-gate-pod-lift route and the replacement plan during maintenance.
- Best for
- T5 travellers comparing total cost carefully, park-and-fly stays and those comfortable with the pod route.
- Watch for
- The pod costs per person, operates to published hours and still requires walking between hotel, station and terminal.
Renaissance London Heathrow Hotel
Best Bath Road hotel for runway views, meetings and drivers
Renaissance earns inclusion through named runway-view rooms, full-service dining, a fitness centre, meeting space and parking. Those are tangible reasons to accept the transfer from Bath Road rather than pretending the hotel is walkable because it faces the airport.
Reserve a runway-view category if that is the point of the stay. Then verify the correct Hoppa or public-bus stop, fare, luggage rule and first service for the operating terminal; a taxi may be simpler for a group but remains traffic-dependent.
- Best for
- Plane spotters, business events, parking needs and travellers willing to pre-plan a T2 or T3 road transfer.
- Watch for
- Runway-side is not terminal-side: Hotel Hoppa, local bus, taxi or another road transfer is still required.
ibis Styles London Heathrow Airport
Best Bath Road budget option for families and reduced-mobility room choice
ibis Styles offers queen, twin and family rooms, plus nine rooms published for guests with reduced mobility. The on-site restaurant, parking and EV charging make it more useful for some trips than a bare room near a terminal.
The value calculation must include the airport journey. Check whether the chosen Hotel Hoppa or local bus serves the right terminal at the required time, and ask how the transfer vehicle handles wheelchairs, pushchairs or several cases.
- Best for
- Budget stays, family rooms, drivers and travellers who can accommodate a road transfer.
- Watch for
- It is not walk-connected, breakfast costs extra and an early transfer can outweigh a small room saving.
Choose by the trip you are planning
If you are flying from Terminal 2
Choose Hilton Garden Inn for the covered link and full-service facilities. Aerotel is possible via the central pedestrian route but is better aligned with Terminal 3.
Read Hilton Garden Inn London Heathrow Terminals 2 and 3 guide
If you are flying from Terminal 3
Choose Aerotel for the shortest landside route, or Hilton Garden Inn when a larger full-service hotel justifies the pedestrian underpass walk.
If you are flying from Terminal 4
Choose Hilton for the most direct full-service link; Crowne Plaza for business facilities; Holiday Inn Express for included breakfast; or Premier Inn for a simple room.
If you are flying from Terminal 5
Choose Sofitel for a walk-only covered route. Consider Thistle only after adding the paid pod fare and checking operating hours.
If you want runway views or airport meetings
Choose a named runway-view room at Renaissance and plan the road transfer separately.
If you want a budget family room on Bath Road
Choose ibis Styles only if the transfer timetable, breakfast supplement and total journey still beat a terminal-linked option.
Plan the visit, not just the room
Start with the operating terminal, not the hotel name
Heathrow's four passenger terminals are not one walkable campus. Terminals 2 and 3 share the central area; Terminal 4 lies to the south and Terminal 5 to the west. A hotel that is physically close to a runway can still be inconvenient for the passenger entrance.
Check the airline and flight in Heathrow's terminal finder close to travel, then book for that terminal. If the terminal can change, favour a hotel with a reliable route to Heathrow rail and Underground stations rather than relying on a single hotel shuttle.
Understand walkway, free transfer, pod, Hoppa and local bus
A covered walkway or pedestrian tunnel removes road traffic but can still involve lifts and a substantial luggage walk. Heathrow publishes free travel between terminals by specified rail, Underground and bus services; follow the current airport route because the right interchange differs by terminal and time.
The Hotel Hoppa is a paid hotel coach and does not currently serve the Terminal 4 forecourt. Thistle's pod is also paid and has published operating hours. Local buses may be cheaper but stops, luggage space and service patterns need checking. A taxi is door to door but can encounter airport roads and drop-off arrangements.
Plan the first journey of the morning before booking
For an early flight, work backwards from the airline's check-in and bag-drop guidance, not from scheduled take-off alone. Add hotel checkout, lifts, the complete transfer, terminal walking, security and a contingency for a missed bus or unavailable pod.
A terminal-linked hotel usually buys more certainty than a small rate saving on Bath Road. If the first transfer is too late, price a taxi before booking the room or choose the hotel attached to the departure terminal.
Trace the whole route with luggage or mobility equipment
An accessible bedroom does not prove that the airport transfer works. Ask the hotel to describe the route from terminal arrivals or public transport to reception, the assigned room and bathroom, including lifts, gradients, doors, rest points and transfer-vehicle boarding.
Covered routes are usually preferable in poor weather, but their length still matters. Families should check cot and sofa-bed occupancy, breakfast times and whether trolleys are allowed. Travellers with mobility equipment should arrange airport assistance separately from hotel accessibility.
Use an airport hotel for a flight, not as a default London base
A Heathrow hotel is useful for an early departure, late arrival, split ticket or short stopover. It is usually a poor base for several days of central London sightseeing because each day repeats the airport rail journey and leaves the traveller far from evening plans.
For a longer London stay, compare Paddington for Heathrow Express and Elizabeth line access, or another central area that better fits the itinerary. Move to the airport only for the final night if the reduced morning risk justifies changing hotels.

Quick answers
Common questions about hotels for London Heathrow Airport
Practical answers for location, transport, access and choosing the right hotel.
Which Heathrow hotels are connected to a terminal?
Hilton Garden Inn is connected to Terminal 2 by covered walkway; Aerotel is landside inside Terminal 3 Arrivals; Hilton is linked to Terminal 4 by covered walkway; Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn Express and Premier Inn use covered pedestrian links from T4; and Sofitel is directly connected to Terminal 5. Walking length and lift use differ, so confirm the route for the exact terminal.
What is the best hotel for Heathrow Terminal 2?
Hilton Garden Inn London Heathrow Terminals 2 and 3 is the strongest answer because it connects to T2 by covered walkway and offers conventional full-service facilities. Aerotel is inside T3 and can be reached on foot through the central area, but it is a less direct T2 choice.
What is the best hotel for Heathrow Terminal 3?
Aerotel is the closest landside sleep option because it sits in Terminal 3 Arrivals. Hilton Garden Inn is better when restaurant, fitness and a fuller hotel experience matter, but it requires the pedestrian underpass route from T3.
What is the best hotel for Heathrow Terminal 4?
Hilton London Heathrow Airport is the strongest full-service option on the most direct covered link. Crowne Plaza suits business travel, Holiday Inn Express includes breakfast and Premier Inn offers a simpler room; all three latter choices involve a longer covered approach.
What is the best hotel for Heathrow Terminal 5?
Sofitel London Heathrow is the only hotel directly connected to T5 by covered walkway. Thistle is a lower-cost alternative with access to a paid driverless pod, but it is not attached to the terminal and the pod's fare and operating hours must be checked.
Is travel between Heathrow terminals free?
Heathrow publishes free inter-terminal options using specified rail, Underground and bus services. The correct route and ticket-gate procedure depend on the terminal pair, time and service status. Hotel Hoppa and Thistle's pod are separate paid products.
Are Bath Road hotels walkable from Heathrow terminals?
No hotel in this shortlist should be treated as walkable from a passenger terminal merely because it faces the runway or carries Heathrow in its name. Renaissance and ibis Styles require Hotel Hoppa, a suitable local bus, taxi or another road transfer.
Should I stay at Heathrow or in central London?
Stay at Heathrow for an early departure, late arrival, short stopover or split ticket where reducing transfer risk matters. For several sightseeing days, a central base is normally more practical; Paddington is especially convenient for Heathrow Express and Elizabeth line arrivals.
Methodology
This 10-hotel shortlist is organised by terminal and actual transfer method, not a radius from an airport centroid. We checked Heathrow's terminal-hotel guidance, free inter-terminal information and Hotel Hoppa page on 8 October 2026, then checked each hotel's official access and facility information. Transfer times are deliberately described as routes rather than promises because walking pace, lifts, queues, engineering work, traffic, fares and timetables vary. We did not stay at, visit, sound-test or accessibility-audit the hotels, travel the routes with luggage or compare live room prices.
